David’s Rising in the East
David Edwards was Initiated into Blackpool Temperance Lodge in April 2010. After completion of ‘all floor offices’ he was duly installed as Master in January 2016.
He subsequently led the ‘Fylde Light Blues’ between 2016 and 2018. This is a New and Young Masons Club servicing the Blackpool, South Fylde and North Fylde Groups. He has likewise organised a number of unique events, at a multitude of Lodges, across the Fylde Coast.
David successfully installed his successor at Blackpool Temperance Lodge in January 2017. He subsequently became Master of Baines Lodge in December of that same year. David formed a number of formidable friendships with members of Baines which led to his joining membership in December 2013.
He was exalted into Fylde Chapter in November 2014. His exaltation ceremony was conducted by John Lee, who is the current Master of Baines Lodge and David’s proud proposer for both Baines and Fylde respectively. He became Joshua in 2018, Haggai in 2019 and Zerubbabel in 2020. He duly installed his successor in September 2021 following the lifting of the masonic suspension caused by the global pandemic.
David is a proud member of Senatores Lodge of Installed Masters and a joining member of The Lodge of Peace & Unity No.314 which meets within the Preston Group. He currently occupies the role of Junior Warden at 314.
His first provincial appointment was conferred upon him in January 2019. He was thereafter invested at Provincial Grand Lodge in April 2019. He had the privilege of serving as the highest ranking provincial grand officer within the Province of West Lancashire. He fulfilled his role as Provincial Senior Grand Warden with absolute distinction. David continues to proudly represent the Provincial Grand Master at installations throughout the province.
David was successfully admitted as a member of the Provincial Wardens’ Club in October 2019. In October 2021, he was elected and appointed Secretary of this very distinguished band of brothers. This remains a role he will be honoured to undertake for many years to come. He was delighted when John Lee was elected and appointed as the Clubs’ Director of Ceremonies.
David was appointed legal advisor to the Provincial Halls Support Group in 2019 which is also a role he actively continues to support.
He was likewise proposed as a First Joining Member of the newly consecrated Lodge Sine Nomine No.10,000, and attended the consecration ceremony in February 2022 at Freemasons’ Hall in London, where the Lodge will continue to meet and dine. Sine Nomine will be administered directly by UGLE.
He currently enjoys the role of Secretary of the Blackpool Group of Lodges & Chapters which was conferred upon him in April 2020. He will move on from this role in May 2022 when he becomes Vice Chairman and Royal Arch lead.
David has delivered every ceremony in its entirety and on multiple occasions too. He has produced flawless ritual since his early days as an entered apprentice and until now. His party pieces include the charge after initiation, the extended explanation of the second degree working tools, the full extended second degree tracing board and the traditional history. He has conducted exaltation ceremonies and first class installation ceremonies in both orders.
Outside of the organisation, he has played first team cricket at King Edward V11 School in Lytham and first team cricket at Lytham Cricket Club. He remembers fondly his 2 day game against MCC and against the Kenyan under 21 national team which was played in Nairobi.
David has been the Secretary of Old Lidunians since 2014, and in 2016, he was made a director of the Preston Incorporated Law Society. He is a very keen golfer and his other interests include travel, most sports and underground electronic music.
The members of Baines Lodge are extremely proud of him. He has become a prominent figure within our ancient and honourable institution and he excels at all he does. David’s imminent appointment to Vice Chairman of the Blackpool Group brings huge pride to his family, his friends, his lodges and chapter and to all those who love and support him. We have no doubt this next challenge for David will be undertaken with the usual dignity and class that he has shown since 2010. We wish him an abundance of the very best of good health to enjoy his new role to the full.
