John Lee and Ade May are proud Baines Masons. The former is current Worshipful Master and the latter is the Lodges talented Publicity and Communications Officer. Together they’re close friends and an exceptionally good team. Their respective partners and children also work spectacularly well in tandem.
Whilst out together and enjoying some well earned, but unexpected good weather, a discussion ensued about the men undertaking a good deed for charity. It was established that Ade was fearful of heights and John was extremely apprehensive about vertical drops if on the outside of a building and not seated within some form of transport. Those fears being real, wives Kathryn and Laura found their husbands a perfect challenge which would tackle their respective fears head on.
John and Ade will Walk the Big One for Home-Start Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre. This daunting task will take place on Sunday 12th June 2022 at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. They will climb 420 steps to the popular attraction summit and brave being 235 feet above the ground stood only on an exposed staircase. Both expressed visible palpitations at the prospect of conquering this challenge successfully.
"Comfort" can be found within discomfort and "possible" can be found within impossible. Although this challenge will not be easy for the boys neither are the lives of many families across the Fylde Coast. Home-Start helps families deal with post-natal depression, isolation, physical health, bereavement and many other challenging circumstances.
Being a parent can be joyful but it can also be overwhelming. Equally, such challenges become even harder when faced with a crisis or adversity. A child's earliest years are irreplaceable. Without a stable, loving and nurturing environment, a child will not develop the foundations they need. The earliest years make the biggest impact. Home-Start makes sure those years count so that no child's future is limited.
