Hawaii 5-star

Hawaii is the only place in the fifty states where you can see the stars of the entire northern and southern hemispheres.

Baines Lodge was no different when a vast array of masonic stars from all over the province graced the Luau party at the Dalmeny Hotel in St Anne’s.

This event was particularly special as it had been arranged by the Lodge’s social committee comprising of members, partners, widows and children.

WM John Lee and his wife Kathryn asked the committee for an occasion full of fun, colour, laughter and informality. The task was set and the committee truly delivered.

From sticky BBQ skewers and mini pizzas to bowls of pulled pork and herby chicken thighs. The table decorations were edible fresh fruit centre pieces and the caramelised banana pieces, upside down pineapple cake and sorbet course went down a real treat. There was even cocktails and mocktails on arrival.

The Lodge Ladies were also honoured guests for the evening and Barbara Robinson was celebrating her 80th birthday. A beautiful cake and a cheery song brought tears to the eyes of our new octogenarian.

With party games, fancy dress, an 80s DJ and a palm tree raffle, the whole occasion was a massive success. A wonderful sum of £370 was likewise raised for good causes.

Kathryn Lee said “John and I would like to thank our chairman Ian, deputy Carol, secretary Terri, treasurer Vicky and the rest of the social committee for delivering a memorable and very enjoyable evening. It really was a magnificent way to start the summer recess. We hope everybody enjoyed it as much as we did. It was likewise delightful to be surrounded by so many friends who we hope will now have a few months with their families to recharge the batteries”.

Next up is the Lodge’s Family Evening on 29th October 2022. This will replace the more traditional Ladies Evening to give the occasion a modern twist worthy of the 21st century.
