Stepping up to the plate

WM John Lee and Publicity and Communications Officer Ade May, overcame their respective fears, when they successfully climbed the Big One Rollercoaster at the Pleasure Beach in Blackpool.

The former suffers with vertigo and the latter acrophobia. Not even high winds could deter these extremely determined Baines Masons from carrying out their civic duties in support of Home Start Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre.

The driving force behind this challenge was set by Dona Kirkham in her role as Corporate and Community Fundraising Manager. Dona was blown away by the boy’s donors who collectively raised £3,680. Dona stated “John and Ade have been nothing short of amazing and the money raised will most certainly have a huge impact on children and families across the Fylde Coast. The boys should be so proud of the work they have put in to this event and all the team will be forever grateful for their service”.

John and Ade were keen to express their own thanks to the real heroes who donated such a phenomenal sum of money for such a rewarding cause. They said “We can always find comfort in discomfort or possible in impossible. In freemasonry we often talk about practicing those virtues we profess to admire namely charity. Helping those less fortunate than ourselves is a fundamental characteristic of a freemasons heart. We hope the monies which have been donated will truly make a material difference to those who need it the most”.
